Gold Star Story - Nicholas VanHooser
Specialist Nicholas VanHoose was born in Evansville, Indiana on May 31, 1985 to Eric and Debbie (VanHooser) Stahl. He was young, hard working, dedicated father and husband who in the U.S. Army as an Army Ground Surveillance Systems Operator (96R) working in military intelligence from 2004 until 2007.
Nicholas was misdiagnosed at the VA for years before finally being diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma stomach cancer with Mets to the colon. He would die less than a year later on August 18, 2022. He was 37 years old.
Nick was an avid softball player and enjoyed professional wrestling, fishing, and Pokémon. He loved sports and was a Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He is survived by his wife, Nicole, daughter, and two sons.
